A mythology on the balance behind stories.
Ever since I can remember, I was mesmerised by the movies in the local video store—studying the artwork, reading every synopsis. I even knew films inside out before I had seen them.
Franchises in particular always fascinated me.
In sci-fi and horror, stories never truly ended. Even when the villain was defeated, it was only a temporary strike—a moment to regroup in purgatory before returning stronger.
That idea—the belief that all stories are governed by a cosmic balance—has been forming in my mind for years. But it wasn’t until the Saturday Monster Challenge by Alexander Esau sparked a new train of thought that everything clicked into place.
From there, 'The Phoenix and the Serpent' took shape as a mythology built around the Charm monster theme.
My passion for storytelling began in the 1990s when I would trade plastic Coke bottles for cash to rent movies at my local video store. Since then, I've combined my love for film with a career in events and video production. Along this journey, I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with icons from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Terminator, and even the master of horror, Stephen King. These encounters have deeply influenced my storytelling and provided invaluable insights into the craft. Since 2016, I've delved into all aspects of video creation, working across a wide range of formats—from hand-drawn animations to live-action footage. My projects have varied in scope, from 30-second advertisements to 30-minute livestreams. I've collaborated with clients of all sizes, from startups to global corporations, and worked across countries, including the Netherlands and Australia.
